The Disaster Recovery StarTM

The NEW Outcomes Star for people impacted by a natural disaster

Copyright: Triangle Consulting Social Enterprise Limited

The Disaster Recovery Star is a tool to support and measure recovery after a natural disaster such as a bushfire/ forest fire, flood, earthquake, or storm.

It is part of a family of evidence-based, person-centred keywork and outcome measurement tools, available under licence with training.

Combining key-work support and outcomes measurement in one tool

The Disaster Recovery Star helps organisations supporting people impacted by a natural disaster in two ways:

  1. It is a key-work tool that helps to structure holistic, enabling, person-centred and strengths-based conversations, in a trauma-informed way
  2. It is a management information tool that provides valuable, real-time information on how each person is progressing. This information can be aggregated to give distance travelled outcomes measurement data at individual, project and organisation level.

The Disaster Recovery Star is a holistic tool which supports conversations and distance travelled measurement on:

  1. Home and property
  2. Finances
  3. Daily life, work and routine
  4. Health and well-being
  5. Family and close relationships
  6. Connection and community
  7. Hope and trust

Thanks to Gippsland Lakes Complete Health (Bushfire Case Support Program) for collaborating with Triangle to develop this version of the Star and Emergency Recovery Victoria for funding the development.

Additional thanks for participation to Co-health, Windermere Child and Family Services and VACCA (the Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency).
