About
My Mind Star has seven key areas, designed to open up the conversation between key or support workers and service users. These areas are designed along a five point scale:
- Feelings and emotions
- Healthy lifestyle
- Where you live
- Friends and relationships
- School, training and work
- How you use your time
- Self-esteem
Who it’s for
The My Mind Star is for young people experiencing poor mental health. It’s intended for use in early intervention services and may also support young people in managing a mental health condition.
- For young people aged 12-21 (but can be used outside those age groups where appropriate)
- Can be used with young people experiencing: *low mood * stress *anxiety *anger * sleeplessness *self-harming *other mental health problems
- Can be used with diagnosed mental health conditions
- Can be used in a care-leaving or residential setting as well as school and community based projects.

In the pilot, 94% of support staff said it gave them a better idea of service users’ support needs, while 94% of young people agreed that their completed Star was “a good summary of my life right now”.
